Kominfo says the government and other stakeholders need cooperation to create regulations around artificial intelligence

JAKARTA – Intel is hosting its first AI Summit in Jakarta, bringing together industry leaders, independent software vendors (ISVs) and content creators to discuss the topic “Bringing AI Everywhere.”

Intel’s AI strategy is based on an open approach, where deep engagement with the developer ecosystem is critical to reducing barriers to AI adoption.

Moreover, Intel also hopes to bring new innovations in AI technology to developers and customers to encourage ethical, responsible and completely accessible AI.

In fact, Intel also builds AI and security convergence platforms and technologies for customers that can help secure AI data and models across data centers, cloud, desktop and edge devices.

“In a world where every country and every industry is racing towards artificial intelligence, Intel is the only company with a full spectrum of hardware and software platforms,” Jen Baile, group vice president of sales and marketing, Intel Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand announced on Thursday, May 30.

On the other hand, the Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, has taken steps to create regulations regarding artificial intelligence, including a circular letter from the Minister of Communication and Information on AI Ethics.

“Many regulations had to be foreseen and finally Kominfo has SE Kominfo in the field of AI ethics,” said the Directorate General of Information and Public Communication of the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Informatics Bambang Dwi Anggono.

Bambang, however, stressed that the government’s continued action in regulating the use and development of artificial intelligence in Indonesia requires support from the private sector.

“Overall, the government has built the foundation so that the ecosystem above it can function better. However, other roles are needed in the sector to formulate AI regulations,” he added.

According to him, available regulations are implemented by sectors wanting to build AI innovations, which are very important in creating responsible AI.
