As a technology and sustainability giant, Google also supports startups and climate tech pioneers who can make a significant positive impact on climate change

To allocate $1 billion to climate technologies, entities that will receive financial support from HSBC have been selected as part of the Google Cloud Ready-Sustainability program.

Justin Keeble, managing director of global sustainability at Google Cloud, says: “The scale of the climate challenge requires a global ecosystem of technology providers delivering solutions that make an impact. That’s why we launched our Google Cloud Ready ecosystem – sustainable development, which a year later includes leading companies in the climate technology industry.

“Many of these partners need access to finance and we are pleased to be working with HSBC to support companies critical to climate action.”

Google promotes sustainable development practices not only on land. Google is increasing its green energy supply with an offshore wind power purchase agreement (PPA) in the Netherlands, the largest ever, as it continues to work towards achieving green climate energy goals.

“Our ambition to operate on zero-emission energy 24/7 by 2030 requires clean energy solutions in every network where we operate,” adds Matt Brittin, president of Google EMEA.
