The rollout of new managed printing devices will continue until mid-November | Message on the Internet

Installation of new WVU managed printing devices will continue through mid-November, and academic and administrative departments will typically receive at least one week’s notice of the change.

The IT department had hoped to complete this work by June 30, but progress was hampered by resource constraints and machine availability.

ITS notifies WVU building superintendents of planned printer installations and provides them with detailed information on the quantity and location of new MFPs. At the Health Sciences Center, ITS tries to coordinate activities with faculty contacts.

Machine locations are determined based on historical usage data. It is the building inspector’s responsibility to ensure that all residents are notified of removals and installations; ITS does not have this option. As part of this process, building supervisors also collect information about occupants and funding sources.

Participation in the Managed Printing program, which began in 2005, is mandatory. Centralizing core services such as printing/copying/scanning on standard devices helps control costs and ensures adequate vendor support.
