Sheriff’s Office to Body Cameras

West Olive, MI (WGHN) – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office has selected Axon Inc. to the supplier of the Body Camera / In Car Camera project. The project was approved in the 2024/2025 budget by the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners. After an extensive process and research in accordance with the County’s bidding and purchasing guidelines, this order will provide the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office with a state-of-the-art dash cam and dash cam throughout the county. Axon body-worn cameras are used by more major law enforcement agencies than any other brand in the world.

Axon is a technology leader in global public safety. Axon is building the operating system of the future of public safety, integrating a set of hardware devices and cloud software solutions that will create a modern police force.

The Axon suite includes TASER energy devices, body-worn cameras, dash cams, cloud-based digital evidence management solutions, productivity software and real-time operations capabilities. Axon’s growing global customer base includes first responders from international, federal, state and local law enforcement, fire, corrections and emergency medical services, as well as the justice sector.

Every Axon product, from conducted energy weapons to body-worn cameras, to digital management systems (evidence, justice, community), integrates seamlessly with each other, complementing the systems and processes law enforcement already uses. This connection doesn’t end with the company’s products. With features built into Axon solutions, law enforcement can connect with partners, from district officials to neighboring agencies to prosecutors working on a case.

Sheriff Steve Kempker says work will begin in the next few weeks to build a nationwide system for the Sheriff’s Office. The project will include approximately 200 body cameras and 120 car cameras along with system software and operating systems.
