Cork County Council appoints new chief executive

CORK County Council has voted to ratify the appointment of Moira Murrell as its new chief executive.

At a special meeting of the full council held in committee today, elected members considered recommendations from the Public Appointments Service and the views of the Corporate Policy Group.

Mayor of County Cork, Councilor Frank O’Flynn, said: “We are delighted to have formally approved the appointment of Moira Murrell as Chief Executive of Cork County Council.

“She has extensive experience and is committed to public service. We look forward to welcoming her back to Cork County Council.

“I know that with her leadership and vision we will continue to make County Cork an extraordinary place to live, work and visit.”

Cork County Council has written to Ms Murrell and the Public Appointments Office to notify them of its decision.
