Parallels has released Parallels Desktop for Mac 19.4.0 (54962), which addresses general stability and security issues and includes the following additions and improvements:

General

• Adds an operating system badge to app icons displayed in macOS Spotlight search results, providing a helpful visual cue that lets you know exactly which app you’re about to launch.
• Fixed an issue where USB devices were not displayed correctly on virtual machines when connected to USB 2.0 ports. The fix requires macOS 14.5 beta or later to be installed on your Mac.
• Introduces a new way to run Microsoft SQL Server for development or study purposes. To learn more, read our KB article here.

Windows 11

• Introduces a redesigned version of Mac shared folders, which are now symbolic links that act as pointers to files in Mac folders while still appearing as if they were located on the Windows local drive. To learn more, read our KB article here.
• Fixed an issue that prevented NinjaTrader from starting properly due to a shared folder issue.
• Fixed an issue that prevented Mathematica and other applications from working properly due to a shared folder issue.
• Fixed an issue that prevented a Windows 11 virtual machine from installing correctly if a user tried to open an .exe file on their Mac during the installation process.
• Fixed a Windows crash (BSOD) issue when installing LabVIEW on Windows 11 VMs running on Apple Silicon Macs.
• Fixed an issue with right-click context menus disappearing in Consistency view mode in applications such as Delphi IDE, Solidworks, etc.

Parallels Desktop Pro and Business Edition

• Fixed an issue where installing Parallels Desktop for Business via invitation email did not activate the product or open the correct dialog to install the IT-provided virtual machine.

Command line interface improvements:

• Introduces a new action that helps reclaim disk space for a disabled virtual machine:
prlctl recovery disk
• Provides command-line network conditioner support: a useful tool that helps simulate various connectivity conditions for software testing. To enable, run this command:
prlctl set –network conditioner turned on

More details about this and other CLI commands and arguments can be found in the Command Line Interface section of our Developer’s Guide.

Adds more output for the -i argument to the prlctl list command to include additional information about the VMs, such as their IP address, network condition status, and whether it is a clone of another VM.
