A man puts a tracking device in the car of a woman he met online, then cuts off the electricity in her house, US cops say

Police say a Pennsylvania man is suspected of cutting off the power to the home of a woman he met on a dating site as part of a “disturbing” pattern of stalking.

According to a press release from the Bensalem City Police Department, 33-year-old King of Prussia Matthew Bustin turned himself in to police on June 1 on charges of burglary, unlawful entry, stalking and harassment.

Court records did not list attorneys for Bustin.

According to police, on April 16, the woman told police that she returned from vacation and found that someone had “turned off all the circuit breakers in her house and manually unplugged the Internet connection from the wall.”

Police said detectives found a GPS tracking device with account information linked to Bustin in the woman’s car.

Police said the device had been transmitting data since April 5.

The victim told police she met Bustin on a dating site, but ended their relationship after several meetings because police said she “felt uncomfortable” with his “weird behavior.”

Authorities said the woman “blocked him on social media, but he continued to text her and show up unexpectedly.”

According to police, surveillance video from the woman’s workplace shows Bustin approaching the victim’s car and reaching under it.

Location data from Bustin’s cell phone showed he was near the victim’s home or workplace “on at least 9 occasions without her knowledge after the relationship ended,” including when her utility provider confirmed her power had been turned off while she was on vacation – says the police. he said.

“This behavior is disturbing,” Bensalem police said.

Police said Bustin was being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on bail of 10% of US$2 million (RM9.39 million).
