The Koshi Provincial Assembly adopts government policies and programs

BIRATNAGAR, June 6: Policies and programs for the financial year (FY) 2024/25 introduced by the Koshi Provincial Government have been approved by the provincial assembly.

Speaker Ambar Bahadur Bista said that the proposal to adopt policies and programs presented by Chief Minister (CM) Hikmat Kumar Karki was passed unanimously in the provincial assembly meeting on Thursday.

At the Provincial Assembly meeting on June 3, Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung presented the policies and programs of the provincial government. After a discussion on policies and programs, CM Karki replied to questions asked by Assembly members at Thursday’s meeting.

Answering questions from the assemblies, CM Karki stated that the lack of political instability hinders the development of the voivodeship. He said the government had introduced policies and programs giving priority to agriculture and tourism.

Assembly members Rajan Kiranti and Nirmala Limbu, among others who had tabled proposals for amendments to policies and programs, withdrew their proposals for amendments after CM Karki promised to address the issues raised in the budget.

The provincial assembly unanimously accepted CM Karki’s proposal to adopt the government’s policies and programs presented by Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung at the provincial assembly on June 3.

With the adoption of the provincial government’s policies and programs, the way has opened for the Koshi Provincial Government to adopt a budget for the upcoming 2024/25 financial year. There is a provision that voivodeships should submit their budget by June 15.

Speaker Bista informed the provincial assembly that the next meeting of the Koshi provincial assembly was scheduled for June 15.
