Senate Confirms Emomotimi Agama as SEC Director General • OK.ng

The Senate has confirmed Emomotimi Agama as director general of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Apart from Agama, other appointments confirmed by the Senate are Frank Chukwuogor as Executive Commissioner (Law and Enforcement), Abimbola Ajomale as Executive Commissioner (Operations) and Samiya Usman as Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services).

These confirmations followed the presentation of a report by Osita Izunaso, chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Capital Markets. Izunaso, representing Imo West, stated that the candidates had fulfilled all the requirements for nomination by President Bola Tinubu.

“They were eminently qualified for these positions. During the inspection, they passed all safety checks and answered important questions,” Izunaso reports.

After the presentation, the Senate voted and approved the nominations.

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin urged the appointees to perform their duties conscientiously and honestly for the good of the country.

“They should do their job to the best of their ability to turn around the Nigerian economy,” Jibrin said.

“They should try not to disappoint Mr. President or the nation. They should make every effort to use this institution to promote the prosperity of this country.”
