Acer debuts a stereoscopic 3D camera – Gadget

Acer announced the SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo camera, a compact 3D device that captures stereoscopic images that can be viewed in immersive 3D.

“The SpatialLabs Eyes stereoscopic camera complements Acer’s stereoscopic 3D offering, providing solutions from content capture and creation to display and interaction,” said Bennie Budler, consumer products manager at Acer Africa. “We hope to enable users to capture the world around them in stunning stereoscopic 3D with the new camera, and we can’t wait to see the possibilities and amazing content they will be able to create and share.”

With 8 megapixels per eye resolution, a built-in selfie mirror, and a weather-resistant housing, the Acer SpatialLabs Eyes Pocket Stereo Camera is perfect for capturing outdoor moments. Its setup enhances your shooting experience with carefully calibrated lens alignment and an advanced optical system that allows you to capture objects with greater depth and 3D detail.

SpatialLabs Eyes is equipped with auto and touch focus, enhanced by electronic image stabilization (EIS), ensuring smooth and stable footage. There is a manual mode option, which gives you the flexibility to calibrate your ISO, white balance and shutter speed settings for better control of the output image.

The outer material is covered with a black slate coating, while the lens hood and selfie mirror housings are now covered with an aluminum cladding. The camera received the Red Dot and iF Design 2024 awards.

The camera enables real-time 3D streaming, allowing you to share live 3D content on YouTube and other streaming platforms using the new Acer SpatialLabs Player 3.0. Video chats will be available via the SpatialLabs video calling widget later this year, enabling immersive, high-definition 3D video conferencing in apps like Teams (1080p), Zoom (720p) and Google Meet (1080p), with customizable depth features available to add more layers of realism during conversations.

It includes a downloadable gallery feature where users can look back at their 3D portfolio and relive the immersive 3D journey.

Acer is expanding its development tools for SpatialLabs technology with the latest SpatialLabs Unreal 5.3, Unity 2021.3 LTS and 2022.3 LTS plug-ins, which will be available by the end of May 2024. The SpatialLabs Model Viewer application will be available in the new Pro version, which is compatible with SpatialLabs series devices Pro.

SpatialLabs Model Viewer Pro enriches new features for commercial applications and helps you create a 3D product portfolio, simplified by presentation mode to seamlessly present multiple 3D models. Customization tools are available to add logo overlays and backgrounds.
