Tinubu dismisses Arase as chairman of the police commission

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed former Inspector-General of Police Solomon Arase as chairman of the Police Services Commission (PSC).

He approved the appointment of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu (Rtd) in his place.

A statement issued on Monday by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, said the President also approved the appointment of Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as Member of the Commission.

He added that the nominations require approval by the Senate.

The announcement states that the remaining members of the Police Service Commission will be appointed in due course.

Additionally, the President has approved the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) with immediate effect.

The statement said the President expects the President to demonstrate complete integrity, diligence and patriotic zeal in discharging these important functions for the overall good of the Nigeria Police and the nation.
