Kurdistan fully complies with the WHO International Health Regulations

Shafaq News/ On Tuesday, Kurdish Health Minister Saman Barzanji announced Kurdistan’s “strict compliance” with international health regulations and effective coordination with the WHO during disease outbreaks.

Speaking at a press conference after his meeting with Georges Alfred Ki-Zerbo, WHO Representative in Iraq, he stressed that cooperation with WHO will continue, especially after significant efforts and cooperation to combat various epidemics, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

“We will always align with the International Health Regulations to serve the entire health sector and all of humanity,” Barzanji said, noting that these efforts are in line with WHO guidelines discussed at a recent meeting in Geneva.

Ki-Zerbo reiterated his commitment to integrating the global health system and expressed his appreciation for Iraq’s progress in expanding health services. He expressed admiration for the health care system in the Kurdistan Region, highlighting the effective coordination at the government level and health centers in providing medical services to both residents and incoming displaced persons and refugees.
