Euro 2024 regulations – changes in the VAR system, yellow card resets, handball regulations, changes

With less than a week before the start of the 2024 European Championships in Germany, fans across the continent are preparing for another stunning international football showcase.

Following pre-tournament favorites England’s surprise 1-0 defeat to Iceland before the competition, nerves have not calmed down for teams such as France, Spain, Italy and Portugal, who have posed a threat to the Three Lions this year with star-studded lineups.




Gareth Southgate’s men are looking to go one better this time after a heartbreaking Euro 2020 final penalty shootout defeat to Italy at Wembley three years ago and will be looking to build on their semi-final and quarter-final exits from the 2018 and 2018 Championships. The 2022 World Cup, respectively, under the leadership of the former England international.

It won’t be an easy path to the final for them either, with Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia all in the group stage ahead of a potentially brutal knockout stage in which they will face hosts Germany, Spain or France before the semi-finals. But after the 26-man squad was announced on Thursday afternoon, captain Harry Kane will once again lead his team in another mission to bring football home.

With that in mind, here are all the important rules and regulations that have changed since the three years of the 2020 European Championship.
