Shivraj vows

The action plan is expected to be implemented in the coming days and will include detailed targets and timelines for implementation across states and crop cycles.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday discussed with senior officials a 100-day action plan aimed at strengthening the agriculture sector and easing farmer unrest.

During the meeting, which was attended by Ministers of State for Agriculture Ramnath Thakur and Bhagirath Choudhary, Agriculture Secretary Manoj Ahuja and other top officials, Chouhan stressed on the need to provide quality produce to farmers to boost agricultural production and productivity across the country.

The action plan aims not only to achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural products, but also to improve the quality of exports from this sector, an official statement said.

The minister emphasized the importance of providing farmers with access to high-quality seeds, fertilizers and other necessary resources to increase yields and improve their economic condition, he said.

With the agriculture sector grappling with the effects of erratic monsoons, pest attacks and volatile market prices, the Centre’s 100-day action plan is being seen as a much-needed measure to revive the fortunes of the farming community.

The action plan is expected to be implemented in the coming days and will include detailed targets and timelines for implementation across states and crop cycles.
