Start of the IDCOL-funded Buet Solar Rooftop project

Dhaka, June 13University of Bangladesh Engineering and Technology (BUET) officially launched Infrastructure Development Company Limited Liability Company (IDCOL) l- financed Rooftop photovoltaic project (BRSP).

The official ceremony announcing the project’s Commercial Operation Date (COD) was held at the Buet Auditorium.

The 3.27 MWp BRSP project is a joint venture Consortium of Buet and GPPS Ltd. The IDCOL-funded project is expected to generate significant savings for Bueta, reducing its electricity bills by an estimated BDT 60 crore for the next 30 years.

Buet VC Professor Dr. Satya Prashad Majumder chaired the event. Special guests were Mr. Alamgir MorshedExecutive Director and CEO of IDCOL, Mr. SM Monirul IslamDeputy CEO and CFO of IDCOL, Ms. Asmy Jahan HoqueManaging Director of PEGEL, the company’s main shareholder Consortium GPPS limited liability companyand Dr. Abdul Zabbar Khan, pro-VC of Buet.

In his speech, Morshed praised the BRSP as a key step forward in renewable energy Bangladesh education sector. He emphasized the project’s alignment with the government’s commitment to clean energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Professor Majumder expressed gratitude to IDCOL for its financial support, which played a key role in the implementation of this ambitious project.
