Larport solar farm: a key lever of BNP Paribas’ net zero strategy

The Larport solar farm, developed by Conrad Energy, is now operational, representing a significant step forward in the UK’s energy transformation. The plant, located in Herefordshire, will produce 40,000 MWh of renewable electricity each year, equivalent to powering 11,000 homes.

Strategic partnership with BNP Paribas

The launch of this project was celebrated with key partners including BNP Paribas and Ethical Power, as well as representatives of the local community. Steven Hardman, CEO of Conrad Energy, highlighted the importance of this project to the bank’s net zero ambitions. BNP Paribas, a founding member of the Net-Zero Banking Alliance, will use this energy to decarbonise its UK operations, saving around 375,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide over 40 years. Emmanuelle Bury, UK country director for BNP Paribas, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to financing the energy transition and realizing its value through cooperation with Conrad Energy.

Impact on community and future projects

The Larport Solar Farm illustrates the power of strategic partnerships. This project demonstrates how effective collaboration between Conrad Energy and BNP Paribas can help companies achieve their sustainability goals while meeting today’s energy needs. The Larport solar farm is the latest in a growing series of projects from Conrad Energy, which currently manages 950 MW of power generation and battery storage potential across 85 sites. Larport’s success can serve as a model for future projects, illustrating the ability of renewable energies to support the transition to a greener economy.
This initiative demonstrates how strategic collaboration and well-planned projects can effectively respond to energy challenges while promoting the economic and operational sustainability of businesses. Thanks to leading companies such as Conrad Energy and BNP Paribas, the UK’s energy transition looks promising.
