San Antonio is changing regulations and fees for short-term rentals

San Antonio is changing city regulations regarding short-term rentals. The City Council on Thursday approved the first regulation update since 2018. More than 3,100 STRs are registered, but the city believes more than a thousand may be operating without a permit. The new rules require major platforms such as Airbnb to collect the city tax on hotel accommodations and remove listings that do not have a permit. Additionally, the three-year permit fee ranges from $100 to $450 for STRs whose owner does not live on-site.
