The Cincinnati Bengals’ free agent acquisition speaks great for a 2024 first-round pick.

While the Cincinnati Bengals offense has become a league-wide powerhouse, the organization has struggled to create an effective offensive line on the field. For a team that struggled to lose in the 2022 Super Bowl after elite quarterback Joe Burrow came under constant pressure, the offensive line has not improved even after making big free agent acquisitions in each of the last few seasons. Something obviously had to change.

The Cincinnati Bengals offensive line is on the verge of turning point

After several years of consistent mediocrity on the offensive line, Cincinnati finally went all-in and drafted two extremely talented but unique offensive tackles this offseason. On the one hand, they struck a bargain deal to acquire Trent Brown, a former Pro Bowl offensive tackle who will surely be able to secure the usually disjointed right tackle position. He and his second team selected offensive tackle Amarius Mims from the University of Georgia with the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. While both are great players, they will be competing for a good position on offense in the offseason.

Now that Brown has rejoined the team after family matters kept him away from his new franchise for five weeks, he’s certainly grown fond of his biggest competition. During Tuesday’s media coverage, Brown was simply gushing with positive comments about the young rookie.

I always try to be a treasure trove of knowledge for all my young guys, wherever I have been. I always tried to help wherever I could,” Brown said. He went on to explain that Mims is an extremely talented player in his own right. “Like any rookie who hasn’t played football at this level yet, he needs to work on a few little things, really little things. I feel like he will be the all-time starting striker in this league.

Even for the most positive scouts, calling the youngster a future all-star is probably the best compliment the former Bulldog could earn. A stellar offensive report from a former Super Bowl champion certainly isn’t a bad way to start your career. Mims has already had a great offseason with his new team, and things will likely continue to improve for the young rookie.

While the relationship between both players seems to be going well at the moment, it’s still possible that a positional battle ahead of training camp could make things worse for both goliaths.
