Most Indians believe technology, including artificial intelligence, will accelerate economic growth: report

A majority of Indians (89 percent) believe that technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), is a key enabler of integrating traditionally excluded populations into the economy, a new report showed on Wednesday.

According to HP, a major computing and printing specialist, 76% of global business and government leaders believe that artificial intelligence will help achieve sustainability and social impact goals. “We know that technology can be a great equalizer and a powerful tool for driving progress. But to truly close the digital divide in our rapidly evolving world, we also need to equip individuals with the skills to use technology,” said Michele Malejki, HP Global Head of Social Impact and Director of the HP Foundation.

HP said it will soon include AI training in its HP LIFE program to promote the responsible and effective use of AI. These AI training courses will be offered free of charge under the Digital Business Skills initiative across the world, including India. HP will also introduce next-generation AI-enabled computers in India, a new category of high-performance computers for work and creation.

Since 2016, over 12 lakh users worldwide have registered on the website, enabling them to access job opportunities or start a business. –IANS shs/shoulder
