Samsung is rolling out the first beta of One UI 6 Watch with Galaxy AI for the Galaxy Watch6

Late last month, Samsung announced One UI 6 Watch, the next version of its skin on the Google Wear OS platform. At that time, the company only said that the update would be available “later this year” for the Galaxy Watch4 and newer models of Samsung smartwatches.

Now, Samsung has released the first public beta of the One UI 6 Watch app for the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic in the US and Korea. Unfortunately, the beta version will not be available in any other countries. The One UI 6 Watch is expected to come pre-installed on the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, which should be officially unveiled in early July at the next Samsung Unpacked event.

Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic owners in the US and Korea can register their beta devices via the Samsung Members app. Initial availability appears to be limited to Bluetooth-enabled versions of the watches, but LTE-enabled models will also be available in the near future.

The beta version will also be available on the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch5 in due course. According to the changelog, Samsung Health has a new energy indicator that shows the level of physical and mental readiness based on sleep and physical activity. There’s also more detailed sleep analysis with AI-powered insights and a comprehensive sleep report that includes heart rate, respiratory rate, and how long it takes to fall asleep after lying down.

You can combine a series of different exercises into a custom exercise program. Double pinch lets you quickly perform actions by pinching your thumb and forefinger together twice – perfect for answering calls, turning off alarms, scrolling through notifications, controlling music, taking photos, and more. Buttons that can be controlled with a double pinch will be marked with a finger icon to let you know.

Horizontal scrolling is now faster, tapping the bottom of the watch face will display a list of ongoing activities (phone calls, exercising, playing music), and the quick action button (answer a phone call, turn off an alarm) will automatically appear focused on you. By moving your wrist back and forth, you can go to the previous screen without touching it, and modes can control more settings on the watch depending on what you’re doing and where you are.

You can choose which apps can send you notifications directly to your watch, set emojis as favorites for quick access, save attachment images to messages, and limit health features when Power Saver is turned on to extend battery life. The One UI 6 watch also has a new default font, and when you start playing music on the watch, your Bluetooth headphones or speaker will automatically connect to play. The watch will only attempt to play through the speaker (if your music app supports it) if there are no Bluetooth audio devices available to connect.
