The date of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 2024 summit is already behind us. Expected presentation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset

Chipset giant Qualcomm has just confirmed that Snapdragon Summit 2024 will take place from October 24 to 26 in Maui, Hawaii. This annual event is known for showcasing the company’s latest flagship mobile chips. The highlight of this year’s edition is expected to be the launch of the top-of-the-range Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, which will power next-generation flagship Android devices.

The San Diego, California-based company recently launched a microsite with a short video clip revealing the dates and location of Snapdragon Summit 2024.

Expected presentation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset

As we’ve already mentioned, the highlight of the event will be the debut of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Don McGuire, Qualcomm’s chief marketing officer (CMO), has previously confirmed both the name of the upcoming mobile processor and its announcement at the summit. However, the microsite lacks more information about the event, including product launches, potential sessions and participating smartphone brands. With October still a few months away, Qualcomm is expected to update the website with more details in the near future.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, manufactured by TSMC on a 3nm process, is said to feature custom Oryon processor cores. The two high-performance cores are said to reach a peak clock speed of 4 GHz and have been reported to have achieved over 3,000 points in single-core tests and 10,000 points in Geekbench multi-core tests.

Moving away from the 1+3+4 configuration of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the upcoming chipset is expected to adopt a 2+6 arrangement with no performance cores.

Recall that the flagship Snadragon 8 Gen 3 processor, launched last year, brought artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities that were adopted by phone makers Samsung and Xiaomi in the Galaxy S24 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra series, respectively. AI advancements in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC largely focus on generative AI, which uses algorithms to create various forms of content, including images and text.

The chipset’s AI engine is specifically designed to generate artificial intelligence on devices, prompting Qualcomm executives to label the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as a “titan of device intelligence.”
