Prairie Lakes Ice Arena in Watertown Receives Over $51,000 in Energy Efficiency Rebates | Local news

{KXLG – Watertown, SD} The City of Watertown announced that the Prairie Lakes Ice Arena has received a significant rebate of over $51,482. This rebate is part of the Bright Energy service rebate program, which offers cash incentives for energy efficiency improvements.

Bright Energy Solutions, Watertown Municipal Utilities and Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) are participating in the program. Successfully obtaining the rebate was made possible by City Engineer Justin Petersen, who submitted multiple applications.

Mayor Ried Holien expressed satisfaction with the impact of the program on energy costs in the city. “This program has significantly reduced our energy costs at Prairie Lakes Ice Arena, allowing us to operate more efficiently,” he said. He went on to praise the facility’s design team, stating, “This is yet another aspect that confirms that Prairie Lakes Ice Arena was ‘built right.'”

The mayor also took the opportunity to express gratitude to Watertown utilities and MRES for their support and partnership. He emphasized that the discount is a testament to the hard work and dedication of a team of dedicated, intelligent people who worked for months to create a facility that the entire community could be proud of.
