Rammon Abbas, popularly called Hushpuppi, was sentenced in 2022 in Los Angeles, United States (USA) to 11 years in prison. He was convicted of laundering millions of dollars worth of money.

On Saturday, June 8, user X, Babygirl4life (@praiseoghre), claimed that the celebrity had been released from a US prison, along with a video substantiating the claim.

The post was titled:

“Hushpuppi has been released from prison. Let’s hope he has learned from his mistakes.”

In the video, Hushpuppi could be seen exchanging pleasantries with some people who appeared to be friends and acquaintances.

Some Nigerians who commented on the video expressed optimism while expressing remorse.

A check of the video by fact-checking organization Dubawa found that a similar video was posted on YouTube in 2017.

iLITE TV was observed to have posted the video. The video’s YouTube caption describes the activities described in the clip, stating that it is related to Hushpuppi’s birthday party in Cyprus.

How many times have people claimed that Hushpuppi was fired

According to the findings, this was not the first time that Hushpuppi was rumored to have been released from prison.

In 2022, a YouTube video by Gistworld Entertainment stated that the companion had been released from prison in the US.

In 2023, TERATE TV shared the same story and stated that Hushpuppi was released from prison in the US

The findings also showed that there were no credible media reports of Hushpuppi’s release as claimed by user X.

Therefore, Dubawa assessed this claim as misleading.

Nigerian Hushpuppi sentenced in the USA

However, Hushpuppi will spend 9 years in an American prison because he spent 2 years in prison during his trial.
