New Delhi (India), June 15 (ANI): Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda has directed the Department of Pharmaceuticals to upgrade the quality of all drug and medical device manufacturing plants to global standard in the next three years.

Nadda, along with Anupriya Patel, MoS Chemicals and Fertilisers, organized a review meeting of the Pharmaceutical Department in the national capital on Saturday after assuming charge. During the meeting, the department provided a detailed overview of the Pharma and Meditech sectors and detailed the department’s activities, including the regulatory framework and programs implemented by it, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers added in a press note.

The minister stressed the need to focus on the Prime Minister’s vision for Viksit Bharat in 2047 and also reviewed the five-year program and 100-day action plan.

The statement said the five-year plan would focus on enhancing drug safety, Aatmanirbharta for medical devices, expanding Jan Aushadhi scheme and ensuring accessibility of medicines and therapies to citizens.

On June 14, after assuming office, Nadda attended a meeting with top ministry officials to discuss the MoHFW’s 100-day action plan.

This 100-day plan includes the launch of the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), a special drive against the use of ‘tobacco’ especially among the youth and teenagers, a nationwide campaign against non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and the deployment of Arogya Maitri Disaster Management Cube-BHISHM (revolutionary mobile hospitals equipped with the latest technology) and the U-WIN portal dedicated to celebrating vaccination registration for children.
