A Morrisons director is leaving after just three months

Experienced retail executive Darren Blackhurst has left Morrisons months after rejoining the supermarket chain, dealing a further blow to chief executive Rami Baitiéh’s turnaround efforts.

In February, Baitiéh appointed Blackhurst as interim chief customer and marketing officer, which was expected to remain permanent. However, Blackhurst has stated that he intends to step down and the terms of his departure are currently being considered. Craig Taylor, director of logistics, also resigned in recent weeks.

Since Baitiéh joined from French supermarket giant Carrefour in November, there has been an exodus from the supermarket’s management team. He has no plans to replace eight leaders who left in the last month, including directors of retail, non-food and private label.
