KB5039239: Microsoft is releasing Windows 11 24H2 (2024 update), but you may not get it

At the end of last month, Microsoft made Windows 11 version 24H2 available to Insiders on the Windows 11 Release Preview channel. A day later, the company announced that it was starting to certify Windows 11-compatible hardware and devices 24H2.

However, the implementation was halted due to some issues, although information on this has not been made public. This morning, the company resumed the rollout to those using the release preview channel.



In addition, Microsoft has also released Windows 11 24H2 (aka Windows 11 2024 Update) as generally available for Copilot+ computers. Here’s what Microsoft writes in the support article regarding the update:

Important: Windows 11, version 24H2 is only available for Copilot+ PCs.

The update is available as KB5039239 and build 26100.863. The full changelog is below:

Overview of the most important events

  • This update resolves an issue that affects audio on a Bluetooth device. When connected, the volume is set to maximum.
  • This update resolves an issue that may prevent games with the BattlEye anti-cheat feature from working. This issue affects Arm64 devices.
  • We are improving the operation of Copilot on Windows. It is now pinned to the taskbar and will behave like an application. Thanks to this, you can use common applications. For example, you can resize, move and snap the window.

Improvements

This security update includes improvements. After installing this KB:

  • This update applies to the Windows Management Instrumentation Command Line (WMIC). The default on-demand (FoD) status for new installations is “Disabled”. If you upgrade to Windows 11 24H2, the default FoD status is “Enabled”.

If you have installed previous updates, only the new updates included in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

We are aware of an issue where players on ARM devices are unable to download and play Roblox through the Microsoft Store on Windows.

Players on Arm devices can play Roblox by downloading the title directly from www.Roblox.com.
