Gillon McLachlan’s new job at Tabcorp is a risky venture for both parties

Like a patient bettor who has run out of luck, ASX-listed betting group Tabcorp is chasing its losses, placing high-risk, high-reward bets on its new CEO: former AFL boss Gillon McLachlan.

There is a strong argument that McLachlan, who finally left the AFL at the end of last year after a lengthy farewell tour, is one of the more recognizable managers in the country. But he’s also wildly inexperienced when it comes to his role at Tabcorp.
