According to ESET, they are part of a targeted campaign that began in November 2021 to distribute malware on Android phones, primarily in India and Pakistan. T o delete apps on android, o type the Google Play Store app and in the upper right corner, click the Profile icon.

Click Manage apps and devices. Manage. Select the name of the app you want to remove. Click Uninstall. The researchers said: “Apps containing XploitSPY can extract contact lists and files, the device’s GPS location, and filenames listed in specific directories related to the camera, downloads, and various messaging apps such as Telegram and WhatsApp.”

They further added, “The malware also exploits a native library that is often used in Android app development to improve performance and access system features. However, in this case, the library is used to hide sensitive information such as server C&C addresses, making it difficult for security tools to analyze the application.”

The report identified ten additional apps containing XploitSPY-based code and shared its findings with Google, Google explained in an alert to users around the world.
