CM Rajasthan allots land for construction of 4 solar power plants, government aims to make the state a ‘leader’ in the energy sector – Industry News

Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday, June 16, approved the proposal to allocate 4,780 hectares of land for the construction of four solar projects. An official statement said the approval is in line with the goal of making Rajasthan self-reliant and a “leader” in the energy sector.

According to the statement, the state government signed an MoU worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore on March 10 between Rajasthan State Electricity Generation Corporation Ltd, NTPC Ltd, NTPC Green Energy Ltd, Coal in India Ltd and NLC India Ltd will implement district heating projects with a capacity of 3,325 MW and renewable energy projects with a capacity of 28,500 MW under the joint venture.

As per the application submitted, Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company has been allotted 4,780 hectares of land. The company will construct three solar parks in Bikaner district with a capacity of 2,450 MW, while NTPC will construct a solar project in Phalodi district with a capacity of 500 MW. For this purpose, NTPC has been allotted 910 hectares of land at Bhadla village in Phalodi district.

Two solar farms with a capacity of 1,000 MW are planned in Bikaner, one of which will have a capacity of 450 MW. According to an official statement, approval has been given for allotment of around 1,881 hectares in Surasar village of Pugal Tehsil for the first solar park. Apart from this, 2,000 hectares will be allocated for the second 1,000 MW solar park, of which 1,194 hectares are in Surasar and the remaining 807 hectares in Bhanavatawala village.

Moreover, a third solar park will be set up in Bikaner village in Sardarpura, in connection with which approval has been given for a plot of 900 hectares.

If the assurances are to be believed, the solar parks will be constructed by Rajasthan Akshay Urja Nigam in three phases under the solar parks program of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the central government.

The Prime Minister said that these projects would create jobs at the local level and give a new impetus to economic activity in the region. He further emphasized that these solar projects will also play an important role in environmental protection and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 2 lakh tonnes per year. The CM said that through these projects, an investment of around Rs 10,000 crore would be made in the state.
