The FIA insists the 2026 F1 regulations are simple despite criticism over complexity.

The FIA stated that the regulations introduced for the 2026 season are not too complicated. The Aston Martin team principal expressed concerns about potential confusion among fans. However, the FIA defended the proposed rules, saying they were not as difficult to understand as rocket science.

Nicholas Tombazis, FIA director of single-seaters, disagreed with the team principal’s statement. He explained that the new plan is slightly more complicated than the current system and allows the 2026 cars to move closer to each other using electricity, similar to how DRS works.

However, Tombazis emphasized that the new system is not too difficult to understand. Recognizing the need to provide clear explanations, they believe that the rules are not overly complex if they are adequately explained.

The Williams driver expressed concerns about cars possibly slowing down. He highlighted the efforts made to avoid loss of speed at the end of the straights due to MGU-K. Furthermore, Albon admitted that dealing with the challenges imposed by new engine regulations had complicated the situation and made it more difficult to manage.

Alex Albon believes that the complexities arising from the new engine regulations should not pose a barrier to understanding for fans and drivers. It urges the FIA to address the issue and make the necessary changes to avoid confusion. The current situation adds complexity and challenges to sports that should be avoided.
