PMIC and level shifter for display panels in IT devices

17/06/2024 | MagnaChip | Semiconductors

Magnachip Mixed-Signal, Ltd. has released a multi-function PMIC and multi-channel level shifter for regulating various voltages and signals in IT equipment display panels.

For over a decade, the company has been developing and supplying a wide range of power integrated circuits, including LED drivers for TV backlight units and LED lighting drivers. The quality of the company’s products has been confirmed by successful cooperation with leading manufacturers of TVs, OLED panels and smartphones, which has allowed it to globally expand its customer base.

The new products introduced provide PMIC and Level Shifter technology, resulting from the company’s research and development activities conducted since 2019. These technologies offer increased performance, low power consumption, multi-functionality and multi-channel capabilities.

The multi-function PMIC is developed as a single-chip solution that integrates an on-chip controller, switches, logic circuit, two gain regulators, two negative low-drop voltage regulators, three high-current step-down voltage regulators and two positive op-amp regulators. With I2C, this PMIC can control dynamic voltage management, built-in on/off timer, protection circuits and switching frequency change. As a result, the new PMIC improves performance and reduces power consumption in applications. Thanks to this, the power needed to operate high-end display panels in IT devices will be stably processed and distributed.

The new multi-channel level shifter has been specially developed to regulate on/off voltages for over 24 channels and effectively manage voltage signals. As a result, this level shifter fully meets the high channel requirements of high-resolution displays and UHD panels.

“We believe the IT display industry will greatly benefit from these new premium power solutions from MMS,” said YJ Kim, CEO of Magnachip. “We will continue the Company’s legacy of success in a timely manner with product development, manufacturing and technical support.”
