iPhone 17 will be ‘significantly thinner’ than previous models as Apple’s iPad Pro M4 ushers in a new era of thinner, lighter devices

The iPhone 16 may not arrive for a few months, but Apple is already hard at work preparing models for 2025. Work on the iPhone 17 is already well underway, and a new report suggests that Apple wants to add some of the magic of the iPad Pro M4 to the lineup.

The 13-inch iPad Pro is the thinnest device Apple has ever made, making even the best iPhone seem massive. However, according to the well-known Mark Gurman, Apple intends to fix this with the premiere of the iPhone 17. Moreover, the company also intends to reduce the size of other products.

If Gurman is right, the iPad Pro ushered in a new wave of thinner and lighter hardware that will continue with the iPhone 17 and the updated MacBook Pro, and the Apple Watch will also become thinner as part of this initiative.

Thinner than thin

Gurman, in the weekly Power On newsletter, claims that Apple is “currently focused on developing a much thinner phone that will be available for the iPhone 17 line in 2025.” The report goes on to say that Apple is also working on a thinner MacBook Pro and Apple Watch, adding that “the plan is that the latest iPad Pro will be the beginning of a new class of Apple devices that should be the thinnest and lightest products” in their categories across the industry technological.”

The iPad Pro M4 is, of course, already on sale, and the iPhone 17 is not expected to ship until September next year. As for the iPhone 16 lineup, it will be announced around mid-September this year.
