OfficeSuite looks convincing An alternative to Microsoft Office, especially for mobile devices. It is fully compatible with Word, Excel and Powerpoint and provides users with reliable PDF creation tools. When the app is launched for the first time, users will be presented with a home view containing recently used files. From this central location, users can browse files stored on their device or in any of seven integrated cloud systems (including Dropbox and Google Drive), search for specific files, manage their account, and create new documents. To enhance user comfort, a light or dark mode is available, facilitating optimal editing conditions in various environments.

We’ll take a closer look at it, application by application.

text editor

In OfficeSuite, text can be easily customized with a wide range of predictive features, including foreground and background coloring, indentation, alignment and justification, and vertical and horizontal spacing. The style catalog makes it easy to quickly change headings and paragraph text, although it is not possible to update or create styles. However, it is possible to replicate formatting from one text segment to another using the convenient Format Painter tool.

List construction is supported, including multi-level lists (for example 1.2.1, 1.2.2, etc.); However, there is something to improve. Initiating a sentence with an asterisk or hyphen will not automatically generate a list. Additionally, it is not possible to create new list styles, which limits users to three basic options: ○ ●■. Indentation changes the styles of the list, which is good.

The application is also missing several important elements. The lack of a citation manager is especially unfortunate for academic users. Find and Replace is limited in scope and does not support search styles or Replace All, which is a notable omission for an otherwise solid text editor. The lack of stylus integration is a significant disappointment, especially considering such functionality is available in the companion Slides app. Finally, it is not possible to embed dynamic charts in the document, which further limits the application’s capabilities.

We were thrilled to find a solid spreadsheet app. Adding formulas is made easy with a user-friendly interface that offers an extensive library of functions organized in a logical manner. The function entry process was simple, and we were pleased to see that the error parsing engine guided the user to the appropriate part of the equation. Moreover, the application demonstrated the ability to automatically fill in a missing closing bracket, demonstrating attention to detail and user-centered design.

Data rows and columns can be easily sorted thanks to advanced filtering. Data clustering and validation can be easily performed. The only notable omissions are the data consolidation and what-if analysis capabilities that come with Microsoft Office. The process of inserting and customizing data-driven charts and graphs is simple.

Slides

The process of creating and reorganizing slides, adding and customizing page elements, and setting transitions was simple, and we encountered no difficulty in creating a concise and effective slideshow. Unlike the Documents component, the stylus integration here is truly unique: responsive, intuitive and pleasant to use. Presenter mode also proved to be highly functional, even supporting stylus annotations, which was a significant advantage.

Additionally, OfficeSuite provides a PDF file editor, which is a significant advantage over the competition and sets it apart from the competition. Makes it easy to convert PDF files to Word, Excel or ePub formats, add detailed annotations and sign documents. Annotation options include using a stylus, two types of pens, and a highlighter. It’s worth noting that, as with most PDF annotators, written highlights are placed before the text. However, you can adjust the transparency of these highlights to improve readability.

OfficeSuite: mobile and web

As mentioned earlier, OfficeSuite is compatible with Apple and Android mobile devices. Notably, it also comes with Apple Watch support, which can be used to control your slideshow presentations. Our evaluation of OfficeSuite for iPadOS found it to be highly responsive, intuitive, and feature-packed. In addition to compatibility with multiple cloud drives, OfficeSuite offers a convenient Wi-Fi file transfer feature, allowing users to initiate file transfers with any computer on the network by specifying an IP address, which is a commendable feature. Subscription plans also include 50GB of cloud storage.

The software is noticeably missing collaborative editing functionality, an essential aspect of many comparable apps, which is unfortunate. However, both tracking changes and adding comments are supported, and documents can be shared with other users via standard iOS, Android and Windows channels (email, messaging and cloud storage, for example). What others miss is that there is no functionality to allow multiple users to work on the same file simultaneously.

Office Suite: Prices

OfficeSuite can be purchased as free software, known as Free Office Pack, although its capabilities are definitely limited. Documents cannot be printed without watermarks, and basic features such as spell checking and columns are not supported. The Sheets component does not include PivotTables or data validation, although it does include a PDF module. While this may be something to consider when looking for a free word processor or office suite, those requiring more than basic functionality may find it overly limited.

While there is no shortage of free alternatives, those willing to pay for a reasonable subscription will be able to generate visually appealing text documents and compelling slideshow presentations, as well as perform relatively advanced data analysis.
