eBay accepts Venmo payments.

eBay is adding a new payment method after recently deciding to scrap another one.

The e-commerce marketplace integrates the digital payment platform Venmo. This decision follows the recent announcement that as of August 17, 2024, it will no longer be accepted American Express cards as a payment option.

In a corporation blog posteBay said it intends to introduce “new, popular and modern payment options” that meet the “evolving preferences” of “digital natives,” and cited Venmo’s popularity among Gen Z and Millennial consumers and its user base of more than 90 million users.

As a result, shoppers can now pay for purchases with their Venmo balance or bank account, debit or credit card linked to their Venmo account. The ability to pay with Venmo will be available to U.S. buyers on eBay.com and the eBay app in the coming week.

Once buyers connect their Venmo account to their eBay account, they can proceed to checkout without manually entering payment details on subsequent transactions.

After completing a purchase on Venmo, buyers can choose to split the payment within the Venmo channel. Eligible payments are covered by Venmo’s Purchase Protection offer if there are issues with your purchase. Merchants don’t need to do anything to their account to offer Venmo as a payment method.
