Barco leverages the Microsoft device ecosystem to update ClickShare

Barco has adopted the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform for future ClickShare solutions and enhancements.

This operating system has built-in security and enterprise-grade IT-friendly features, allowing the Barco team to further improve ClickShare’s renowned simplicity and user experience.

By integrating the Microsoft device ecosystem platform with its upcoming ClickShare offering, Barco says it is poised to leverage the Android-based platform that will enable device manufacturers and software developers to create cutting-edge solutions. This partnership, supported by Microsoft’s renowned security, trust and governance, will enable ClickShare to continue to improve its trademark ease of use and exceptional user experience with customers and partners.

For over a decade, Barco has proven to be at the forefront of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) market. The ClickShare conferencing system allows users to seamlessly initiate video calls using their personal laptops while taking advantage of their conference room AV setup. With over 270,000 ClickShare conferencing units deployed, a robust partner network and a significant presence in Fortune 1000 companies, Barco says ClickShare is a pioneer in user-centric collaboration technology.

What has Barco been up to lately?

In May, Barco announced that its ClickShare Bar devices had been formally certified as carbon neutral.

Barco’s CO2 neutral certification from climate consultancy CO2logic means the ClickShare Bar Series is the second ClickShare product to receive the CO2 neutral label, following the second generation ClickShare Conference CX-50. By stating that ClickShare Bar is the “first carbon neutral wireless conferencing video bar on the market”, Barco reaffirms its commitment to climate action and celebrates a significant milestone on its journey to offering a fully carbon neutral offering solutions for collaboration during meetings.

In the same month, Barco opened a new production and R&D center in Wuxi, China, and reaffirmed its ambition to “deeply cultivate the Chinese market.”

In May, Barco opened the Barco (Wuxi) Technology Co., Ltd. manufacturing and R&D center for engineering projector business. Barco emphasizes that its strategy is not only based on the principle of “In China, for China”, but also on the principle of “In China, for the world”, underlining its commitment to both local and global markets.

In February, Barco partnered with Microsoft Teams to migrate ClickShare device data to the Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro and Pro Portal management portals to improve management and end-user experience.

Barco says IT managers will gain deeper insight into room and device utilization, and users will enjoy consistent quality across Teams and other platforms. The Barco ClickShare solution enables users to conduct calls from their own laptops using various video conferencing platforms, using the audio and video equipment available in the conference rooms.
