Already in April, the Energy Central Community Management Team published an annual competition for nominations for energy industry specialists who are worth considering. Innovation Champions. After a thorough evaluation process, Energy Central recently announced its Champions of Innovation, which includes Geof Syphers, CEO of Sonoma Power. Geof was selected for his leadership in the company’s clean energy transition work and pioneering community choice programs for consumers in California.

As part of this recognition, the Energy Central Community Team is delighted to have the opportunity to conduct an in-depth interview with Geof. Under his leadership, SCP introduced EverGreen, the first 100% on-site 24/7 renewable energy service in the U.S., significantly impacting both community engagement and state policy goals. His work on the GeoZone project leverages local geothermal resources to increase electricity reliability and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Recognizing Geof on the cusp of SCP’s 10th anniversary, Geof reflects on the milestones that have made SCP a model for community choice programs across the country. During this conversation, Geof provides insight into the history and future of SCP and stands out as a clear champion of innovation.
