Development projects to boost local community and enrich Masirah tourism sector

Masirah: The Wilayat of Masirah in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate is executing a number of development projects in various sectors to boost the local community and enrich the tourism sector.

The projects aim to tap the potentials of Masirah Island and generate value for this vital sector.

Sheikh Abdullah Ba’awain, Wali of Masirah, said that Masirah is expecting the award of a tender for the construction of development projects, including the multi-purpose port project.

The projects to be executed include linking of the wilayat of Masirah to the main network of Oman Electricity Transmission Company through a sea cable and overhead electricity transmission lines from Mahut Station to the Station of Masirah.

This is in addition to other projects in the fields of communication and potable water projects and a project for the construction of a multi-purpose center which will be financed by Oman –India Fertilizer Company, he added.

Other projects include road construction, lighting, landscaping, development of seafronts, parks, he said. He said that the Masirah Summer Forum will be held in August which will be organized by the Office of the Governor of South Al Sharqiyah in cooperation with the Office of the Wali of Masirah—-ONA
