Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is just the beginning of an exciting year. After WWDC, Apple is preparing to launch several big products, especially in the second half of the year.

The second half of 2024 promises several significant announcements, but the attention will certainly focus on new iPhones. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect from Apple for the rest of the year.

Apple meticulously plans events and product launches, sticking to a consistent schedule. Fall events are particularly important for the company’s financial condition, and the launch of the iPhone is a key moment.

Typically, Apple does not hold media events in July and August. The last time this happened was in August 2007.

Magical September: new iPhone 16 and Apple Watch 10 series
The September event is well known even among casual observers. It was then that Apple presented the latest iPhone models.

This event usually takes place in the first half of the month and often includes other product launches aimed at boosting holiday sales. This year, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will be in the spotlight.

The new iPhone models are expected to launch in September, barring any global disruptions. Key features will include advances in artificial intelligence, as highlighted during Apple’s Intelligence presentation at WWDC. iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to feature the A18 chip, larger displays, new buttons, and improved battery technology.

Apple consistently updates the Apple Watch every fall, usually alongside the iPhone. The Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to have a larger display, thinner case, and stronger internals. There is also a chance for an update to the Apple Watch Ultra, although this is not certain.

Autumn events in October
In recent years, Apple has held many events in the fall. The October event often serves as an overflow of products that are not included in September. This secondary event allows Apple to introduce more products without overwhelming its September lineup. It is worth noting that October events have been omitted in 2022, 2019, 2017 and 2015.

New iPad models may appear during the October event. Apple hasn’t made significant updates to the iPad in 2023, leaving 2024 ready for new releases. Expected updates include new iPad Pro models with the M4 chip and the new iPad Air M2. There may also be updates to the base iPad and iPad mini models, with new chips and potentially new features related to Apple Intelligence. Looking ahead, the iPad mini OLED may not arrive until 2026, while rumors suggest that the foldable iPad could launch as early as late 2024 or early 2025.

New Macs and MacBooks with the M4 chip
After the MacBook Air update in March 2024, Apple will likely roll out more Mac hardware updates. With iPad Pros moving to the M4 chip, other Mac models may arrive sooner than expected.

The Mac mini, last updated in January 2023 with the M2 and M2 Pro chips, is a strong candidate for an end-of-year update. Instead, the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, which received the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips in June 2023, may instead be updated in 2025. The chance of MacBook Pro M4 models arriving by the end of 2024 is slim and likely to happen at the beginning of 2025

Major audio improvements
HomePod and AirPods updates are less predictable in terms of event timing. These products are often updated as accessories for other major launches such as the iPhone. In the case of AirPods, a better fit is expected for entry-level and mid-range models. USB-C charging cases will likely be available for all models, along with possible Find My speaker integration.

The HomePod mini, last significantly updated in November 2020, may be getting an update, but rumors are sparse. It’s unlikely that a display-enabled HomePod will arrive in 2024, and more significant updates will likely arrive later.

Apple’s WWDC may set the stage, but the real excitement comes in the second half of the year. With updates expected for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, HomePod, and AirPods, 2024 is shaping up to be a big year for Apple enthusiasts. While the exact timing and details of each launch remain partly speculative, the fall events will undoubtedly be filled with major announcements. Stay up to date as Apple continues to innovate and surprise its global audience.
