AR Alliance continues to accelerate the development of augmented reality glasses applications

PISCATAWAY, New Jersey, June 18, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The AR Alliance announces that Google will become the next founding member with a seat on its board of directors.

AR Alliance provides a supportive and neutral environment for organizations of all sizes to play an active role in developing and strengthening the augmented reality hardware development ecosystem. Diverse organizations in the growing global AR ecosystem are collaborating through the AR Alliance to accelerate breakthrough technologies and processes to create AR devices and wearables that deliver meaningful and positive user experiences.

“We are building AR together,” said Dr. Bharath Rajagopalan, chairman of the AR Alliance and director of strategic marketing at STMicroelectronics. “The promise of AR and its potential market is so enormous that there is enough room for all of our member companies to succeed together. The AR Alliance is a place where concrete work is taking place to harmonize approaches to refine, standardize and grow the global AR supply chain and accelerate innovation. We are thrilled that Google can join us in this important work and bring its technology leadership, deep market understanding, and unique market experiences and perspectives to help drive the AR market.”

Steve Goldberg, director of next-generation hardware/software platforms at Google, added: “Our mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. AR technologies like those being developed by the AR Alliance have the potential to change the way we interact with information by connecting our physical and digital worlds. We look forward to working with the AR Alliance and its members to continue to explore the possibilities of AR and how it can be used to solve real, everyday challenges.
