Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday released the 17th tranche of over ₹ 20,000 crore to around 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) direct benefit transfer in Varanasi.

It is worth noting that this is the Prime Minister’s first visit to his constituency after winning the Lok Sabha elections.

I bow to the Kashiets, Baba Vishwanath and Maa Ganga: PM

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Varanasi around 4 p.m., and after 5 p.m., he attended the PM-KISAN Sammelan where he was welcomed by three farmers.

Beginning his speech, Prime Minister Modi said, “After winning the elections, I have come to Varanasi. I bow to the Kashiets, Baba Kashi Vishwanath and Maa Ganga.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were also present on the occasion.

“Thank you Kashi for choosing me for the third time.”

Welcoming India’s electoral process, Prime Minister Modi said, “This election shows India’s strength before the world.”

“There are two and a half times as many Indian voters as there are voters in the entire European Union. I thank the people of Kashi for making this democracy festival a success. I am grateful to the people of Kashi who have elected the Prime Minister for the third time,” he added.

“Farmers, youth and women – pillars of India’s development”

“In very few countries, it has happened that the government returned for a third term… In India, it happened 60 years ago… the people have given us their blessings for the third time,” the Prime Minister said in his speech.

Talking about his plans to develop the country, the Prime Minister said: “I have considered it Kisan (farmer), naujawan (youth) and women are the strong pillars… that will make India a developed country.”

Tomorrow, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Nalanda University campus

Prime Minister Modi will conclude his visit to Varanasi this evening around 8 p.m., after which he will proceed to Bihar.

There, at around 9:45 a.m., he will visit the ruins of ancient Nalanda, inscribed on the UN heritage list in 2016, and at 10:30 a.m. he will inaugurate the university campus, created as part of joint cooperation between India and the East Asia Summit (EAS) countries.
