Scott Parnell increases productivity and sustainability with Descartes

Descartes Systems announced that UK reseller Scott Parnell has improved customer experience, operational efficiency and supply sustainability by using Descartes electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) software to distribute supplies and materials to the construction, rail and infrastructure sectors on a national scale. The implementation of Descartes’ ePOD resulted in a significant reduction in paper consumption and an increase in productivity equivalent to two full-time employees.

“Providing our customers with reliable and efficient services has been the foundation of our successful growth since 2012,” said Rachael Adamson, Southeast Director at Scott Parnell.

“The introduction of ePOD by Descartes has resulted in significant daily staff savings of 16.5 hours as a result of more efficient customer delivery and invoicing processes, allowing us to devote more time and attention to other initiatives that deliver greater value to our customers. The solution confirms that the goods have been delivered, efficiently completes delivery notes and emails the delivery note and invoice to the customer. Additionally, by replacing paper invoices with digital invoices when delivering products, we will save an average of 600 – 1,000 pieces of paper every day, contributing to our own environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals and customer requirements.

As part of the Descartes suite of routing, mobile and telematics solutions, ePOD captures customer and delivery information along with accompanying images and captions via a mobile app. Because information is transmitted in real time, billing errors are minimized. By collecting data at every step, the solution streamlines business processes by eliminating the need for paper and printing, reducing costs and supporting environmental goals. What’s more, ePOD integrates with ERP systems like Hansa, which Scott Parnell uses, enabling organizations to more accurately manage inventory and invoicing. Finally, the system contributes to health and safety initiatives by providing essential information about delivery locations, such as the need for drivers to wear protective equipment (e.g. a reflective vest) at the time of delivery.

“It was great to see Scott Parnell making progress in customer service and operations by implementing ePOD software from Descartes,” said Gary Taylor, vice president of sales, EMEA, Descartes.

“Our ePOD solution eliminates paper delivery notes and invoices to minimize last-mile delivery formalities. By digitizing this process, Scott Parnell had accurate evidence of delivery, invoicing and inventory management, freeing his team to focus on other business priorities.”
