This is the second production line dedicated to Nextracker, which Unimacts launched last year. The new 160,000-square-foot facility in Sloan, Nevada, produces steel torque tubes used to attach and rotate solar panels in single-axis solar tracker designs. Both plants will produce more than 2 GW of new solar energy each year.

“Unimacts is proud to play a role in providing the critical components and supply chain management that enable the energy transition,” said Alan Hayes, CEO of Unimacts. “Federal incentives allow us to confidently invest in American manufacturing, bring manufacturing jobs to Nevada and grow the local economy. Just nine months ago, we broke ground on our first Nevada solar component facility in Las Vegas, and we are pleased to once again partner with the Nextracker team to expand clean energy production capacity and contribute to local job creation.”

As of 2021, Nextracker has opened or expanded over 20 manufacturing facilities in the U.S., including new or expanded dedicated production lines in Texas, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Tennessee and Nevada.

“Today’s announcement is a great example of clean energy driving an American manufacturing renaissance in Nevada and across the United States. Creating and expanding supply chains here at home strengthens America’s energy security, creates good-paying jobs and stimulates the economy. These new manufacturing facilities also exemplify the critical role that American technology plays in creating a clean, reliable and affordable energy grid,” said Jason Grumet, CEO of American Clean Power.

ACP estimates that IRAs will help create 550,000 new clean energy jobs, more than doubling the number of current clean energy workers. As a result, the clean energy industry will provide direct labor to nearly one million Americans by 2030.

Nextracker and Unimacts held a launch event today to announce the new line at the Sloan facility in Las Vegas. The new factory increases the company’s annual domestic solar tracker capacity to more than 30 GW.

“American manufacturing has quickly become the heart of the clean energy revolution,” said Dan Shugar, founder and CEO of Nextracker. “There are three perfect conditions for a manufacturing renaissance: a great workforce, a well-located clean steel industry and a strong demand for renewable energy. Over the last three years, Nextracker has launched over 20 factories, creating thousands of jobs. This is what growth and scaling looks like.”
