New Delhi: Although Apple has been integrating artificial intelligence into its offerings for years, there is currently a huge interest in generative artificial intelligence on devices, which Apple calls in its unique way Apple Intelligence. Apple Intelligence features will be rolled out to iPhone 16 models scheduled for a fall release at the end of the year, and next year will see an iPhone 17 lineup with even more Apple Intelligence features. The existing iPhone 15 line will not be able to take full advantage of the new technology. Here’s what to expect from the iPhone 17.

Apple iPhone 17 will be equipped with a 24 MP selfie camera

Apple is reportedly planning to double the resolution of its front camera to provide better video conferencing quality, with the iPhone 17 expected to feature 24MP selfie cameras. The iPhone 17 is also expected to improve the main camera, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max is likely to come with a 48MP telephoto lens. The improved camera will be optimized for use with Apple Vision Pro. The current iPhone 15 models feature a 12MP selfie camera and the same is expected to be featured in the iPhone 16 lineup as well.

Slimmer iPhone 17 priced higher than iPhone 17 Pro Max

Apple plans to release a super-slim version of the iPhone 17 next year, which was previously intended to replace the Plus line, but according to new reports, it will be priced higher than the most expensive iPhone Pro Max model. This could be the fifth device in the iPhone 17 lineup or a standalone offering like the iPhone SE. This thinner iPhone is expected to have an aluminum body and a smaller pill-shaped cutout for the front camera and sensors. The new, thinner iPhone 17 is expected to feature a major redesign, and Apple hasn’t finalized it yet.

New Apple Intelligence features will debut on iPhone 17

Apple makes sure that any new technology it introduces is robust and reliable, so it sometimes introduces features much later than the corresponding features in the Android ecosystem. Apple is apparently avoiding any major design changes in the iPhone 16 series. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has credible experience, major changes in the ecosystem based on generative AI are expected to arrive with the iPhone 17 series, and will be just test the waters with Apple Intelligence on iPhone 16.

iPhone 17 will be equipped with an anti-reflective and scratch-resistant display

The outer glass of the iPhone 17 will reportedly be equipped with a super-hard anti-reflective coating, and the equipment to create this coating will appear in China at the beginning of the year. It arrived too late for the coating to be applied to the iPhone 16, which is expected to be released this year. A description from a tipster on the Chinese social networking site Weibo fueled speculation that Apple may opt for Corning Gorilla Glass Armor for the iPhone 17, just like the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

All iPhone 17 models will receive LTPO displays

Apple is apparently introducing new display technologies across the iPhone 17 line, including a low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) back for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. This technology allows for a dynamic refresh rate, and the main benefit for the consumer is a significant increase in battery life. Apple decides to use new LTPO displays on all iPhone 17 models to differentiate the line. Apple is also expected to use LTPO displays on the Apple Watch Series 10.

Apple will ditch Broadcom in its iPhone 17 lineup, opting for an internal Wi-Fi 7 chip

Apple is apparently choosing its own Wi-Fi 7 chips for the iPhone 17, continuing its strategy to achieve chip independence. Broadcom has long been a supplier of communications chips to Apple. Apple will also try to introduce its own custom Bluetooth chips for the iPhone 17. Apple is gaining more control over the technology by designing its own chips, which leads to lower latency and tighter integration with other Apple components, resulting in faster Wi-Fi speeds for consumers.

The iPhone 17 models will be manufactured in India

Apple is reportedly producing an all-new iPhone series outside of China for the first time, with production of the iPhone 17 expected to begin in India in the second half of 2024. To reduce development and design risk, Apple decides to produce the standard model in India. Apple also plans to increase the percentage of iPhone models manufactured in India by 20-25 percent next year. Apple’s relationship with the Indian government could potentially be strengthened through its partnership with the Tata Group, which has acquired Wistron’s iPhone production lines in India.
