Amazon’s ‘brilliant’ £35 gadget hailed as a ‘revolution’ for daily coffee drinkers

Anyone who truly loves their coffee will know that it’s all about the preparation – the more you get into brewing, the more you start to explore different ways to prepare a cup. What if you could make great coffee without having to have a huge, expensive espresso machine on your home counter?

Tons of people now swear by the AeroPress, a portable and simple coffee-making tool that can be used anywhere. Best of all, it’s now available at a great price on Amazon, down to £34.98 instead of £39.99, which is an absolute steal compared to many coffee machines.

The device works a bit like a coffee machine: you press the plunger to filter the coffee, but that’s where the similarity ends – in some ways it’s much simpler. The pressure of the plunger helps brew the coffee, and when it’s ready, it’s pushed through a simple filter at the bottom.

You can check AeroPress’s popularity by checking its reviews – over 19,000 people have rated it, and the average rating was an impressive 4.7 stars. Of these, there are thousands who have almost nothing bad to say.

One such enthusiastic user review read: “This compact yet powerful device has become an indispensable part of my daily routine, consistently delivering rich, flavorful coffee with unparalleled ease and speed.” It’s quite clear.

Another satisfied customer had a similar opinion and wrote: “You can prepare your coffee as strong as you like, and it is extremely simple and quick. It includes a large set of filters, does not require any cumbersome pieces to wash, and is small, compact and easy to transport. Perfect for trips.

The ease of storage and small size of the device are indeed a key part of its appeal. In fact, the comparison we made to the coffee shop was mentioned by another reviewer, who explained that the AeroPress is “so much better than the coffee shop, it cuts down on waste when you only make it for one coffee.”

That’s reassuring, although it’s always worth checking out some of the more critical reviews for additional context. One such complaint comes from a user who said, “This can make good coffee. But one cup of coffee takes a lot of effort and mess.”

So the AeroPress sounds perfect for those who want to tinker with their mixes and get everything just right – and at just under £35 on Amazon it seems like too good a deal to pass up. Of course, there are fancier options available, such as the WACACO Picopresso, which can make espresso completely on the fly and has a built-in grinder (but is much more expensive). Alternatively, cheaper piston versions are available from AeroPress, although their quality control is often more questionable.

And since the search for the perfect cup of coffee is ongoing, there are many ways to brew a cup of coffee. If you prefer capsules or a machine-brewed cup, you can try John Lewis’s offer of the KRUPS Nespresso Vertuo Next coffee machine, currently discounted at £79.99 down from £169.99. It’s a bit on the higher end of the budget, but still significantly discounted.

Ask any coffee lover and they’ll probably have heard of Bodum, which has a JAVA French Press coffee machine that can brew enough coffee for 8 cups, for £19.90.
