Samsung E Ink smart mirror device unveiled

According to SmartPhoneMagazine.nl, Samsung presented a smart mirror based on the E Ink display. According to the website, the device is based on the 32-inch e-paper color TV that the company launched just a few days ago. Samsung claimed the display would be used primarily for indoor signage or as digital posters. The smart mirror device built around the same display is a truly innovative approach that makes us wonder what other plans the South Korean giant has in the E Ink space.

Meanwhile, we don’t know much about the E Ink smart mirror technology. The only image we have courtesy of the source site makes it seem quite innovative and sci-fi-like. Another aspects of the 32-inch E Ink display that we already know is the Spectra 6 panel, which allows for high-contrast and high-resolution displays.

Another aspect of E Ink displays that makes them suitable for signage solutions is their very low power requirement. Given that it only requires power when the image changes, its total power requirement is only a fraction of what conventional displays require to operate. Moreover, the heat emitted is also much lower compared to LCD or LED displays. All this makes it very environmentally friendly.

Unfortunately, there is no other information on how much such a mirror will cost or when, if ever, it will hit the markets. Stay tuned for more information on this device.

Since I am interested in technology, I try to stay up to date with the latest developments in technology and gadgets. This includes smartphones and tablets, but extends even to artificial intelligence and autonomous cars, the latter being my latest fad. Apart from writing, I like watching movies, reading, listening to music and experimenting with different recipes. Film is another aspect that I am very interested in and will probably make a film at some point in the future.
