Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s $14 billion deal for Juniper draws interest from the British antitrust authority

(June 19): Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co (HPE)’s US$14 billion (RM65.90 billion) deal to buy Juniper Networks Inc, which will expand its presence in networks, will be scrutinized by the UK antitrust regulator.

The Competition and Markets Authority said on Wednesday it had launched an investigation into the merger to see whether the deal raised any competition concerns. The agency set an Aug. 14 deadline to decide whether to fully investigate the transaction.

Juniper, like its larger rival Cisco Systems Inc, makes networking equipment such as routers and switches. A network is a technology that manages the flow of information between devices and on the Internet.

At the time the deal was announced, HPE said it would pay Juniper $40 per share in cash.
