Tinubu arranges appointments in the health and social care sector

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment and reappointment of Board Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers in the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Dr. Mansur Kabir is the chairman of the board and prof. Moji Adeyeye is the Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

Tinubu said the appointment was an expression of his determination to deliver world-class standards in the Nigerian Public Health Administration and to demonstrate his commitment to providing affordable and high-quality care to Nigerians within a governance and regulatory framework commensurate with international best practices.

The president also appointed prof. Abba Zubairu as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) and Dr. Saleh Yuguda as Director-General.

Others include: Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Chairman of the Board, Professor Afolabi Lesi, with CEO, Dr Fatima Kyari; Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) with Chairman of the Board Wasilat Giwa and CEO Pharm. Ibrahim Ahmed.

The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has Dr. Babajide Salako as its Board Chairman and Dr. Tosan Erhabor as its Chief Executive Officer; while Moddibo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola (MAUTH) has Professor Adamu Bakari as its Chief Medical Director/CEO.

Prof. Reuben Eifediyi is the Chief Medical Director/CEO at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH). The President also approved the appointment of a new Director-General, Dr. Olajide Idris, at the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC), who will take office on February 19.

A statement issued yesterday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said: “President Tinubu has meticulously taken into account the wealth of experience of each qualified and mentioned Nigerian who will be entrusted with the task of implementing his Renewed Hope Agenda in the sector.”
