NEPSE: Stock markets are rising, significant growth in the financial sector

Kathmandu, June 19

The stock market showed positive developments on Wednesday as the NEPSE index rose by 2.27 points to reach a total of 2,078 points.

Despite NEPSE’s growth, overall trading volume has seen a decline. Previous day’s transactions stood at Rs 4.05 billion, while today’s transactions shrunk to Rs 3.40 billion. Among the listed companies, 135 saw an increase in share prices, 104 a decrease, and 8 remained unchanged.

The biggest gainer was the financial sector, which increased by an impressive 2.62 percent, or 58 points. Other sectors also recorded profits: banking by 1.6 points, hydropower by 8.5 points, microfinance by 6.8 points, property insurance by 18.8 points. and various other sectors by 2.5 points. However, there were declines in some sectors – development banks fell by 5.2 points, hotels and tourism by 19 points, life insurance by 13 points, manufacturing by 28 points and trade by 38 points.

Among the notable performers, Nepal Finance and Samaj Microfinance saw their value increase by around 10 percent. Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower grew by 9.3%, Mandakini Hydropower by 8.2%, Samling Power by 8%, Atmanirbhar Microfinance by 7.3%, Sirjanshil Microfinance by 6.8% and Win Nepal Microfinance by 6.5% .

On the other hand, Manakamana Smart Microfinance saw a significant decline in value of 9.8 per cent while Divyashwari Hydropower fell by 2.3 per cent.

Nepal Finance, Gorkhas Finance, Global IME Microfinance Financial Institution, CEDB Hydropower and Himalayan Microfinance Financial Institution were the best performers in terms of transaction volume.
