Changes in the Bank’s Employee Travel Regulations | Eased travel restrictions for bankers

Bangladesh Bank today eased travel restrictions on bank employees that were imposed in May 2022 as part of measures to stem the decline in foreign exchange reserves.

Bankers will now be able to travel abroad for business and personal purposes without seeking permission from the central bank, Bangladesh Bank said in a notification issued today.

However, if a bank’s managing director wants to go abroad, he or she must obtain prior approval from the central bank.

As we read in the announcement, bank officials and employees will not be able to travel abroad to participate in training, seminars, workshops or study trips financed by the bank.

It said they can travel abroad for personal reasons due to special needs, perform pilgrimage and receive emergency medical treatment, subject to the recommendation of a specialist doctor and approval from the relevant authorities.
