Sanwo-Olu says AGL will transform the logistics sector

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that the presence of Africa Global Logistics (AGL) in Nigeria will revolutionize the logistics landscape, increase efficiency, create more jobs and contribute significantly to the gross domestic product (GDP) of both the state and the entire country. country.

He added that AGL would facilitate trade and enhance competitiveness, while emphasizing its role in ensuring seamless connections between businesses and consumers, as well as between rural and urban areas, thereby supporting economic growth in Nigeria and Africa.

Speaking at the unveiling of AGL, formerly known as Bolloré Africa Logistics, in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the rebranding and entry into Nigeria will redefine the logistics landscape and provide unparalleled services to drive economic growth and development.

Sanwo-Olu, represented by Commissioner for Trade, Cooperatives, Commerce and Investment, Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, stressed the state’s continued commitment to transforming the business environment through strategic investments and policy changes, including the Lekki Deep Seaport project, which is expected to be one of the largest ports in West Africa.

He said this project, along with other transformational initiatives, positions Lagos as a central hub for maritime logistics in Africa.

The Governor encouraged both local and foreign investors to see Lagos as an attractive place to invest as the state continues to prioritize ease of doing business.

Sanwo-Olu added that the government remains committed to implementing policy changes aimed at enhancing security, diversifying the economy and improving the business environment.

In his welcome speech, AGL Nigeria Managing Director, Etienne Rocher, said the brand unveiling in Nigeria marks a new era of commitment to the country’s development, signifying a strong commitment to elevating logistics standards and driving economic evolution.

According to him, the rebranding is a key development in strengthening the company’s presence on the continent and harnessing the potential of Nigeria’s dynamic logistics sector.

AGL’s CEO of Maritime Services and Chief Investment Officer, Stanislas de Saint Louvent, highlighted the company’s commitment to enhancing end-to-end logistics supply chain continuity across Africa through port terminals, rail operations and logistics infrastructure in every African country. country.

He informed that the company intends to support the development of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which is crucial for the development of the continent.
